The Alters

There are currently nine of us; that changes from time to time. Here is the current 'cast of characters':

Me - I'm the core personality, the 'original', if you will. I'm not using my given name here, in some mild attempt to protect my privacy a little. I suspect it's a losing battle that I'll give up. But for now, I'm just Me. I'm in charge around here - usually. I have a job and a family and hobbies and interests and friends, just like everyone else.

Kiara - my inner kid, who isn't always so 'inner'. She is usually the first alter anyone meets and recognizes as such. She is a precocious six-year-old, very gregarious and usually a generally happy person. She loves to have people read her stories and pet on her, and she loves coloring and shopping.

Paul- the boy. He came to our awareness in January 2012. He's an eleven-year-old boy with a strong memory of regular abuse. He often age-slides to the age of 15, depending on the situation. He's got some of Sam's snarkiness, but he's still young enough to need adult approval. He is also gay, which is something he's comfortable with at 15, but struggles with more at younger ages. He has also written his own introduction.

Baby Paul - Paul has a subsystem of his own, and at age 3, he is Baby Paul. Baby Paul is a mostly nonverbal child who sucks his thumb and expects poor treatment from the adults in his life. He seems to be stuck between this world and Paul's Third World.

Sam - the snarky bratty part of me. I'm pretty sarcastic and likely to tease; Sam takes it to a higher level. She's the primary sexual persona, as well. She's even more of a masochist than I am, and an attention hog as well - she will poke, prod, and pinch until she gets the attention she craves. She laughs a lot, and gets bored easily.

Rubi - the rebellious teen. You know that sullen emotional kid that stands in the corner and glares at the adults, just for the sin of being an adult? That's Rubi, seventeen and mad at the world. She has a lot of tendencies toward being self-destructive, or at least destructive. She takes over when the pain gets to be too much for Sam. Being depressed or angry will open the door for her to run things.

Glass - the newest alter, coming about around November 2014. She isn't well-defined yet, but she likes closed-in quiet spaces, like my closet. She is peaceful.

(dormant) Cherish - the slave personality. She came to our awareness later, in August 2011. She has trouble making choices on her own, but follows where she is led. She is at peace when submitting to her Master, but terrified if she has to deal with anyone else. She seems to have been designed and formed specifically for Boss. She went dormant during 2014.

Stephanie - She came about in October 2012. Her purpose seems to be being afraid. She is also a mulatta slave, bought-and-paid-for. She has a strong affinity for water, often hiding in the bath or shower. She doesn't speak; we're not really sure if she can. She may have some permanent injuries to her jaw and to her left arm. She went dormant in 2014.

Gracelyn - We originally had a motherly alter named Counselor, who observed and reported on the activities of each alter. When Cherish appeared, she chose to take on the name Lynn to distinguish herself. After our collaring, another alter named Gracelyn Rose appeared. Grace was responsible for make-up and clothing and other 'womanly concerns'. In July 2012, Grace and Lynn decided to integrate into a single alter, Gracelyn. She is now in charge of organizing and 'prettying' our life, from the inside and the outside. She does the housework, internal reporting, and giving of advice. She went dormant in 2014.

(dormant) Silent One - the animal. This alter used to come out only in reaction to extreme trauma, and would manifest as a nearly catatonic state. It has begun emerging, however, as an active primal alter, unable to perceive or interact with the world in a human manner. It went dormant in 2014.

(dormant) Jarett - the only adult male persona we've had; he has chosen to go dormant for the time being. He's pretty stereotypically hetero male, but a bit insecure at having the wrong equipment. It's been difficult to encourage him to take a turn being 'out'; he is too uncomfortable in our body and with our lifestyle.
